FULLSPECTRUM at PureSpectrum HQ

FULLSPECTRUM is a 15' tall wall installation created for the company PureSpectrum, designed, built, and installed by Kevin Strawn in 2020. The panels are all laser cut acrylic reflecting the four company colors of PureSpectrum. The panels are mounted to the wall using 153 stand offs at different heights to add a dynamic feel to the piece. From ideation, to construction, then installation, this project was designed and installed in 2 weeks. This piece is displayed in Kevin's Unreal Engine art gallery in the office it was designed for. Poly Kroma 2022 Gallery Design

During Spring of 2022, Kevin was the fabrication team lead for the art gallery exhibition; Poly Kroma, Cal Poly's flagship gallery event for the art department. Kevin was in charge of designing and building all items required for the gallery including placement of the student kiosks, construction of wall installation items, as well as disassembly of the gallery upon the end of the event. For the gallery, Kevin built the 7' tall Poly Kroma totem poll, the 9 piece vinyl cut Poly Kroma letters, as well as CNC routered the wall designs that were then laser projected onto. The totem pole is displayed in Kevin's Unreal Engine art gallery in the College Projects wing. Shown below is a section from Kevin's Book of Metal Portfolio book that covers Poly Kroma 2022.

Art Building 13 redesign

If you ever have been on Cal Poly’s campus, then you have seen the worn down warehouse looking building that sits right in the middle of campus. That building is actually building 13, the art building. The most unattractive, unwelcoming, and broken down building in the entire campus, and it houses the people that are supposed to make things look attractive, welcoming, and clean. The design that Kevin and his group chose reflects the anger and distain that the students and teachers as a collective feel towards being ignored and rejected while their building falls to ruin. The final design was born from the desire to honor the recently torn down pointy CLA building on campus while also looking like a 50s classic car. They hope to one day see this design in real life as it would finally give Cal Poly a skyline again, and would undoubtedly cause commuters and passersby to stop and stare at the great blood red spikes of defiance. Horsehill Vineyards Wine label design

Kevin and his team were given a single task; design the wine label for Horsehill Vineyard’s 2020 Rosé. So that is what they did. They took inspirations from flora around campus, designed the typeface to look like grapevines, and printed it all in white on a clear label so that the bright pink wine could shine through. Kevin made a beautiful mock up of the label and they pitched the design to the client as a team along with all the other teams in the class. It turns out that their effort was worth it, because their label design was picked to be the official wine label for Horsehill Vineyard’s wine. The wine label is currently under development so that it can be press ready as soon as possible, so stay tuned for the final result coming in the next few months. The Strawn Project Gallery

Unreal Engine
2022

The Strawn Gallery is one of Kevin’s most ambitious projects. It is an Unreal Engine 5 game that is an art gallery of all of Kevin’s work up until the point that the game was created in Spring 2022. Everything in this game Kevin created, beyond the art the is displayed inside. He 3D modeled the whole building, created the floor plan, added in all the elements, organized it to look like a real gallery, textured the art and all of the walls and surfaces, lit the environment, programmed the doors, and recreated the entire PureSpectrum office where FullSpectrum is housed. This was truly a labor of love and it actually isn’t finished yet. Kevin has recorded voice lines, written out a plot, and come up with gameplay mechanics to uncover the mystery of the gallery, along with potentially expanding the gallery to contain more art from this year. Driftwood Lyric music video

The Driftwood Music Video was an interesting challenge for Kevin to say the least. He was tasked with creating a music lyric video for a song that was chosen for him, and in Kevin’s case, it was Driftwood: A Fairy Tale by Cursive. There were two problems with this project though, the first was that he only had one week to produce and submit the video, and the second was that Driftwood had over a minute of horror ambiance at the end of the song, and Kevin had to use the entire song in the video. So Kevin, being the person that he is, strove to create the best After Effects music video he had ever created… his first After Effects music video. He had worked with After Effects a good amount in the past, but this was a whole different beast of a project, but he persevered. The end result was far more polished and professional than Kevin had anticipated, and he is proud of his accomplishment, especially finding a logical solution for the horror ambiance at the end that fit the theme of the song. Show below is the YouTube video of the music video, and it is highly recommended that you watch it as it is one of the best animations Kevin has created.

In 2025, Kevin lead the rebranding of K-Taekwondo in its evolution to an open franchise, resulting in the expansion from 2 studios to 5. This new brand identity maintained the original design iconography of the original brand, but innovated and updated the branding to be more open to franchising. The intention was to create a design package that could be easily deployed to new studios with a streamlined brand identity, consistent typefaces, and logomarks that can easily be applied to uniforms and various materials for sale in the studios.

K-Taekwondo Rebranding and Tournament Design

He designed, built, curated content for, and currently manage the new K-Taekwondo website for current and new students. Prior to this, K-taekwondo did not have much internet presence, and their website was simple at best. The new website is built to be visually interesting and hooks the viewer, while also designed to be scalable in scope as more and more studios are added. Streamlined internal student onboarding and student database system to optimize office worktime by over 40%. The new database system enabled any new master to have a fully functional studio system with just a few tutorial videos.

He managed the 2025 and soon 2026 California Invitation Taekwondo Championship Tournament that hosts 1000 competitors and 2000 Parents. Running the event was a massive undertaking, but it was incredibly successful and left a good impression on all of the competitors and their parents. There were minimal complaints, and this built good faith with numerous masters that will bring more students to the next tournament K-Taekwondo hosts. Kevin created all marketing and physical content for the event, including certificates, medals, trophy plaques, posters, info and wayfinding signage, encouraging repeat competitors.
